The Masters of Shotokan Karate
Gichin Funakoshi
Gichin Funakoshi was the creator of Shotokan karate, perhaps the most widely known style of karate, and is attributed as being the “father of modern karate”.
He became honorary head of the Japan Karate Association upon its establishment in 1949.
Masatoshi Nakayama
Masatoshi Nakayama was an internationally renowned Japanese master of Shotokan karate.
He was the first master in Shotokan history to attain the rank of 9th dan while alive, and was posthumously awarded the rank of 10th dan.
The Current Chiefs of WSKI
Abdul Rasheed has been practising Karate for more than forty years now.
Abdul Rasheed is a 8 th dan Black Belt and currently holds the position of the Chief of WSKI.
Dr.Shihan Thajudeen
Thajudeen is a 7th dan Black Belt and is the current Deputy Chief of WSKI. Thajudeen also plays the additional roles of being in charge of the WSKI website and being the coordinator for referee training.
